Air Conditioning Heat Pumps Toronto

Air conditioning heat pumps Toronto are basically an air conditioner that can also work in reverse to provide heat. In warm weather, the heat pump absorbs heat from the air inside and moves it outside, thereby providing air conditioning. In cooler weather, the heat pump provides heat by removing heat from the air outside and moving it inside

Types of Air Conditioning Heat Pumps:

Split System Heat Pump

Packaged Heat Pump (Rooftop Unit)

Duct or Ductless Heated Pumps

Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) Pump

What exactly are air conditioning heat pumps? And is it the right choice for your space?

Air Conditioning Heat pumps have been used for quite a long time. Here in the Greater Toronto Area, people are not so familiar with heat pumps. That’s because, until recently, heat pumps could not provide sufficient heat in a climate where temperatures frequently drop below 20 degrees. Today that’s changing, because heat pump technology has improved to the point where they can be efficient and effective

What are Air Conditioning Heat Pumps and their advantages?

Heat pumps are quickly becoming one of the most highly-adopted and efficient sources of home heating and cooling
Air Conditioning Heat Pumps Toronto and how it works and benefits and cost savings

Split System Heat Pump

Split system heat pumps, unlike most conventional heat pump systems, are generally ductless. This allows for one of the split system’s great advantages. Many models of these systems allow for multiple indoor air handlers to be attached to a single outdoor condenser. Each of these indoor air handlers can be programmed by individual thermostats, thus keeping individual rooms at their own specific temperature. Being able to control specific rooms saves both money and energy. Without the restrictions of a duct system, air handlers can be placed anywhere from the ceiling, the floor, or even on the wall, making them much more flexible in terms of design.

The split system heat pump redefines efficiency by getting rid of the duct system necessary in packaged heat pumps and conventional HVAC systems. If you have more questions about heat pumps or would like one installed, contact City Air Toronto online or give us a call at 416-230-3689

Packaged Heat Pump (also called Rooftop Units)

A heat pump package unit is a great all-in-one heating and cooling solution for spaces without a lot of extra room. These all-in-one HVAC systems are designed to be installed either on the roof or the ground beside the house for efficient heating and cooling performance.

Packaged heat pump units contain both a heat pump and an air handler. Unlike traditional heat pumps, these systems combine everything in a single unit for buildings that don’t have a basement or crawl space. The packaged unit is connected to the ductwork to circulate warmer or cooler air throughout the building depending on the season.

In addition, they deliver quiet, year-round comfort from a single, self-contained unit. These high-efficiency units operate as an air conditioner during warm weather, and in the winter deliver heat pump-generated warmth.

Duct or Ductless Heated Pumps

It’s important to note that both ducted and mini-split heat pumps operate using the same fundamental principle of transferring heat from one place to another, as opposed to creating the heat itself, like a traditional furnace or electric baseboard.

Ductless mini split heat pumps are beautifully efficient, providing consistent room comfort in both small and large living areas. The mini split system is comprised of two components; a condenser, housing the compressor situated outside of the home and an air-handling unit.

Many consumers are simply more familiar with ducted heat pump systems due to the relative newness of the ductless unit, and therefore are more comfortable with it as their heating system. With good airflow exchange, filtration and humidity control, it does present reason to stick to what you know.

As an experienced HVAC company, we can help you decipher which unit will most benefit you and your home in the long run by analyzing photos or conducting a home visit prior to installation.

Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF Heat Pump)

VRF technology provides the ability for multiple indoor units or zones to operate on the same system. VRF systems can either be a heat pump system or a heat recovery system, which provides simultaneous heating and cooling.

Some units heat recovery system uses a multi-port distribution controller which acts as a central location allowing better refrigerant distribution to all indoor units. These systems typically take less piping and connections to configure between outdoor unit multi-port distribution and indoor units.

There are some model that are rated for use at below freezing temperatures.

What Our Customers are saying on Google:

  • 5 star review  I have an old water boiler heating my home, and every other company I called insisted on installing a new system. Some of these solutions were priced upwards of $15,000, or were contract based with a monthly fee of close to $200 on a 10+ year term. Sonny (the owner) came by and immediately recognized that the water pump was broken, and had Silvio (his employee) fix it the next day. Silvio also identified which parts to replace in the future, should any others break down. I can't recommend Sonny's company enough, and will be referring him in the future.

  • 5 star review  Sylvio came out to relocate my AC unit. I didn’t have levelling gravel so he picked some up at a landscaping store and laid it down.l first. Came by on time and did a great job, cleaned my AC unit as well as there’s a dusty condo development happening across the street. He spoke with the neighbour and even cleaned their unit for free. Great service…he really cared about doing a good job. Above and beyond.

5 star review  When our AC blew in the middle of July, these guys really saved us! They were on site within 3 hours of the initial call, and were able to give us a thorough breakdown of what our issue was. We ended up needing a whole new AC unit, and they were able to have a new unit installed within 24 hours of the initial visit. The price is super affordable given the quality of service, and the quality of the unit installed at our home! They were quick, efficient, and so kind. Any questions or concerns we had were handled with ease and guarantee. I would highly recommend this company to others who are in need of these services! Will definitely be calling them with any HVAC needs in the future.

  • 5 star review  A 16 year old furnace at a rental stopped working the other day. I called City Air and they dispatched the technician. Sylvio was onsite in Newmarket quickly and reported the furnace was not worth repairing given its age and he recommended replacing it. He also mentioned he had recently purchased a dented furnace at a discount clearance and would sell it to use for $600 off discount. I approved the work and Sylvio had the replacement in and everything cleaned up early evening. He also cleaned up the gas pipe that ran from the furnace to the water heater to give us more room to move around at no charge. The next day I called him asking for a little cleanup of the expanding foam and caulking where the exhaust piping reached outside. Sylvio was back on site within an hour to do the clean-up. Very impressed with the quality of work, attention to detail, and the good price.
